出張が多く、数々の高級ホテルに宿泊してきましたが、先日泉州を訪れた際に利用したWanda Vista Quanzhouは、その温かいサービスに本当に感動しました。
ホテルに到着するとすぐに、ドアマンが私の車のドアを開け、私が声をかける間もなくスーツケースを運んでくれました。車で来たことを知ると、すぐに専用の無料地下駐車場へ案内してくれ、駐車場から客室まで直通のエレベーターの場所まで丁寧に教えてくれたので、重い荷物を引きずって歩く手間が省けました。ロビーに入ると、スタッフ全員が笑顔で会釈をしてくれ、堅苦しい雰囲気は一切なく、泉州ならではの温かいおもてなしを感じました。
チェックインも予想以上にスムーズでした。フロントのスタッフは迅速に登録手続きを済ませてくれただけでなく、外から入ってきたばかりの私を温めようと、閩南地方の名物である鉄観音茶を温かいまま出してくれました。私が泉州を訪れるのが初めてだと知ると、彼女はすぐにホテルが手描きで作ったガイドマップを渡してくれました。西街のおすすめグルメ、世界遺産の営業時間などが色分けで示され、渋滞を避けてタクシーに乗る方法まで小さなマーカーで示されていて、事前に用意していたどんなガイドよりも役に立ちました。
チェックイン後の行き届いたサービスにはさらに驚かされました。フロントで翌日早朝のフライトに乗る必要があると何気なく伝えたところ、その日の夕方部屋に戻ると、サンドイッチ、フルーツ、温かい飲み物がバランスよく入った、あらかじめ用意された朝食パックが用意されていました。空港シャトルバスが事前に予約されており、10分前にロビーで待っているという手書きのメモもありました。また別の時には、朝食会場で同行者に「今日はバナナを食べていない」と何気なく話したところ、30分も経たないうちにルームサービスがドアをノックし、スタッフが私のためにわざわざ新鮮なバナナを買いに行ってくれたと伝えてくれました。この思いがけない心遣いは、画一的なサービスでは到底提供できないものでした。
最も感銘を受けたのは、様々なゲストのニーズに応える細やかな配慮でした。例えば、ロングヘアの女性のためにシャワーキャップにヘアゴムが用意されていたり、足のサイズが35インチ（約89cm）のゲストにもぴったりのスリッパが用意されていたりしました。フロントのスタッフは、私が持ち帰り用に生姜ダックを購入したことを知り、ホテルの冷凍庫に保管してくれたので、鮮度を保つ心配をする必要がありませんでした。午後3時までのレイトチェックアウトをお願いした際も、スタッフは快く対応してくれ、慌てることなく自分のペースで荷造りをすることができました。
